Hi! I’m Pepijn, I’m currently 21 years old, and I study Psychology at Utrecht University.
This year, I’m fulfilling the role of Vice-Praeses, most similar to a Vice-President. This includes few set tasks; the only thing that is fixed is that I will replace our Praeses Eva when she is unavailable. I will also focus on the informal external relations this year. This means that I uphold contact with our sister associations (other LGBT+ student associations in the country) and our brother associations (other student associations in Utrecht with whom we have close bonds), as well as other informal external contacts. Next to this, I have some separate tasks that I take up, such as maintaining contact with the disputes, as well as being responsible for the borrelbuddy poule. I’ll also pick up some smaller tasks during the year, and help where necessary.
My story when it comes to my studies is quite complicated. In February 2017, I started studying at University College Utrecht, where I tried out several majors; from physics to literature. Eventually, I ended up with psychology and anthropology as my majors. This was still too broad for me, so after two years, I dropped out and started my bachelor’s in Psychology at Utrecht University.
My choice to stay in Utrecht was a very conscious one. After growing up in Zeist, at a relatively short bike ride from Utrecht, and studying here for two years, this city gained a special place in my heart; partly because of Anteros of course.
I already knew the association a bit before I became a member, because I had met other members; it took a while for me to actually go to one of the drinks though. When I did finally join one, I immediately became a member, and of course I don’t regret it one bit. Relatively soon after joining the association, I joined the traveling committee, after which I joined the lustrum committee, and now eventually the board.
Outside of Anteros and my studies I like to dance; at my former study association, I was in a dance group for 1,5 years. I also love to go out, have drinks, watch netflix, and I like saying the word ‘huts’ a bit too much.
Don’t be afraid to come to me or one of my fellow board members (you can recognize us by the black button-up shirts) to have a chat with us! We love to chat and we’re always willing to answer any questions you might have.
See you soon!
h.t. Vice-Praeses der U.H.S.V. Anteros
